“Kollig” features Reuben at Abalone House

kollig2Sensational Afrikaans television programme “Kollig” featured celebrity chef Reuben Riffel in a lengthy interview on the kykNET & kie channel in their episode broadcast on 15 October 2013 at 21:00.

Reuben was interviewed on site at Abalone House, and discussed his decision on launching his brand new restaurant here, spoke about the new menu, and also about his new book “BRAAI, Reuben on fire” (published by Quivertree Publications).

The feature also included a behind-the-scenes look at the photo shoot for the new restaurant, location shots of the beautiful Paternoster, and also showcased the luxurious 5-star Abalone House where the new Reuben’s have opened.

Shangri-La’s Heritage Restaurant participating in Restaurant Week 2013

sldin01Shangri-La Country Hotel’s Heritage Restaurant has joined the annual international event Restaurant Week South Africa.

Restaurant Week South Africa will be held nationwide for the first time, after it has been successfully organized in cities like New York, London and Shanghai. The official partners are American Express, SAfm, Peroni, Good Fellas, Master Menus and SO WIFI. The South African Chefs Association is the charity partner and part of the revenue will be donated to their World Chefs Tour Against Hunger fund.

He says: “I understand Reuben’s concept well, so I am able to implement it easily in the restaurant. His food has a fresh country feel and is plated beautifully. There’s nothing fussy about Reuben’s cuisine. We prefer to use just a few ingredients simply and well.”

Elegant simplicity is also found in the Healing Earth Spa at Abalone House, which offers African inspired therapies and products in four calm treatment rooms – one customized for couples. This premium organic spa brand believes in ancient African traditions of healing and energy to bring about both health and relaxation. Big excitement with Reuben’s at Abalone House

reubensatahThe opening of Reuben’s at Abalone House in Paternoster on 1 October 2013 has already created a social media frenzy.  In time for the opening, the esteemed Chef, Reuben Riffel, ventured to Paternoster for the official photo shoot of his new restaurant at Abalone House.

Photographer Adam Letch, world renowned for his superb attention to detail and his magnificent creative eye, was in charge of the shoot.  During the photo shoot, two additional TV interviews were done with Chef Reuben Riffel.  A behind the scenes look at the photo shoot is one of the features.  More news on the TV interviews to follow soon.
